Starting Out Safely - Early Childhood Road Safety Education
Early Learning Association Australia (ELAA) is delighted to be delivering the Starting Out Safely program on behalf of VicRoads. Funded by VicRoads, Starting Out Safely is about children, parents, carers and early childhood educators working together to guide children’s learning in being
safe and independent road users.
Key activities of Starting Out Safely include:
Road Safety Education PD
- early childhood road safety education advocacy
- ThingleToodle education sessions and activities
- professional development for early childhood educators
- child restraint education including to culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) parents and carers.
VicRoads in collaboration with ELAA and leading early childhood consultants Nicole Pilsworth, Gilda Howard, Catharine Hydon and Louise Dorrat, deliver an interactive and practical road safety education session for key early childhood decision makers.
This interactive session will provide practical examples on how to link and embed road safety education into daily practice and is aimed directly at kindergarten teachers, co-ordinators and directors within the early childhood service.
The session aims to give educators strategies to support children’s learning in becoming safe and independent road users. The session focuses on how the key messages link to the Early Years Learning Framework and the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework as well as the National Quality Standard and allows for early childhood educators to reflect on their programs through the lens of road safety education. Comprehensive resource material is also provided.
This funded interactive session runs for around 90 minutes and can be scheduled at any time that suits your educators. If you are interested in participating please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
or 9489 3500. Please note delivery is best suited to at least 12 diploma and bachelor qualified participants.
