Engage Empower Enact – the EEEC Conference

Environmental Education in Early Childhood Victoria (EEEC) are pleased to present the third joint Australian and New Zealand conference focussing on education for sustainability in early childhood.

Local and international keynote speakers will challenge and inspire, while workshops and papers will be structured to encourage debate and discussion to enable participants to reflect on their own practices and consider how to become more effective educators for sustainability.

Growing school community gardens

A hands-on experience for learning and play
Growing School Community Gardens is a short course run by the Royal Botanic Gardens and Cultivating Community to assist school communities in developing sustainable gardens. The course is designed to provide resources that help deliver curriculum support and practical skills, while inspiring landscapes that provide meaning and connection for an integrated school community garden.
It is also about engaging in a fun, transformative learning environment with weekly hands-on activities, and seeking inspiration from the Royal Botanic Gardens at both RBG Melbourne and RBG Cranbourne, and various school garden sites.

Dates and times
Monday 28 September until Thursday 29 October, comprising:

• three Thursday evening sessions from 5pm to 8pm
• five full-day holiday intensives on 28 & 29 September and 1, 2 & 29 October, from 10am to 4.30pm.

Cost

• $1,000 per participant (3 x 3 hour sessions plus 5 x 6.5 hour sessions = 41.4 hours total)

Location
The program will be located at the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne. Participants will visit inner Melbourne schools, community gardens and the Australian Garden at RBG Cranbourne. Transport will be provided for field trips.
