Who is KPV?

Kindergarten Parents Victoria (KPV) represents the interests of more than 200,000 children and their families. We are the peak organisation promoting the voice of parents in quality early childhood education for Victorian children. KPV provides support and resources relating to governance, management and community participation in line with Vision 2011, our vision for the strategic development of early childhood education. KPV members include over 1100 early education and care providers such as independent kindergartens, cluster managers, long day care services and local governments.

Vision

Vision 2011: A vision for early childhood education - preparing children for life.
Our vision was developed after broad consultation within the sector and with our members. It foresees a future in which all children can access quality early childhood education.

The six key elements of KPV's vision are:

• Education for life recognising the importance of quality early childhood education in improving children's broader life chances as well as school outcomes.
• Universal participation in two years of funded kindergarten.
• Excellence and innovation including an early childhood curriculum framework based on children's intrinsic drive to learn through play, degree-qualified early childhood staff and improved child: staff ratios.
• A cohesive service system based on strong and sustainable multi-disciplinary professional collaboration and program linkages across services.
• An involved community demonstrating a strong partnership between professionals, parents, families and children.
• Responsive and flexible programs that meet changing family needs to balance work, home and family commitments.

Not-for-profit status statement

The income and property of KPV must be used and applied solely in promotion of its purposes and the exercise of its powers and no proportion may be distributed paid or transferred directly or indirectly to or amongst the members.
