Welcome to Kindergarten Parents Victoria

IMPORTANT MECA News

KPV has been representing employers in the Early Childhood Education sector in negotiations with the AEU, MAV, LHMU and the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development to reach agreement on a Multi Employer Certified Agreement (MECA).
The MECA will provide our sector with the ability to move towards key reform initiatives including increased teaching time to facilitate the implementation of 15 hours of kindergarten for four year olds by 2013 and the implementation of the quality early years learning framework. Other key features of the MECA include:
  • Pay-rises for teachers and assistants consistent with Government wages policy (ie average 3.25% per year)
  • One-off lump sum payments for employees, fully funded by the government for employees working in funded programs (available to MECA respondents ONLY)
  • Coverage for teachers & assistants under the same agreement
  • Increased role for assistants
  • 14 weeks paid maternity leave for both teachers and assistants
