At this time of year many committees are wondering - how do we recruit new committee members for election at our annual general meeting?

I find the personal approach works best , I would never put my hand up in a room of strangers but have agreed to join committees when asked personally by a group of friendly committee members.

Making sure al the dates are set in advance and sending reminders via text can help.

All members of the committee need to feel they are somehow making a difference, that's why they got invovled in the first place. Find a way to rekindle the motivation to attend

I agree with the personal approach. It is important to develop a relationship with families from the first meeting. They are more willing to help if the environment is friendly and welcoming. Also make it fun!! We have lucky door prizes and social events organised for the coming year.

With AGMs pending, and the anxiety of who will put their hand up for a role on the committee, it is valuable for current committee members to give a short apraise of the value, skills and knowledge they have attained whilst being a commitee members. Focusing on all the 'good stuff'.
