The new National Regulations released

The Ministerial Council for Education, Early Childhood Development and Youth Affairs have announced the release of the Education and Care Services National Regulations. The new regulations will support the introduction of a National Quality Framework for early childhood services in Australia which will come into effect from 1 January 2012.

KPV’s media release welcoming the announcement is available here. The final version of the National Regulations is now available through the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) website at www.acecqa.gov.au.

KPV Kindergarten Funding Submission

KPV has presented a submission on behalf of its members to the kindergarten funding model review undertaken by Deloitte Access Economics for the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development. The submission was informed by input from several independent kindergarten and cluster management members who provide services across Victoria. Romp into Melbourne Museum and celebrate Universal Children's Day!
 Stomp down to Melbourne Museum on Wednesday October 26th between 10:00 and 3:00pm for Romp & Stomp Fun Day for Children, an event that celebrates children and families and highlights the importance of early childhood development.

Enjoy a full day of fun and educational activities for children 0-5 years from storytelling, singing, music, craft activities and more. Kindergarten Inclusion Tip Sheets

The Association for Children with a Disability has produced some great tip sheets for parents whose child with a disability is approaching the kindergarten years. These free resources have a focus on early intervention services and are available in English, Chinese, Arabic and Vietnamese. KPV’s Seminar – Delivering quality in early childhood
 
Join KPV on Monday 14 November at an essential seminar for early childhood managers and committees on the National Quality Framework. The first two sessions were fully booked and we have scheduled an extra seminar due to popular demand. Book early as places are limited, click here to download a registration form.

KPV Free Committee Training
 
KPV, in partnership with the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development is conducting free committee training on handover, recruitment and planning your AGM. There are sessions on Thursday 20 October at both Altona and Bairnsdale.

Cool Little Kids Study – Building Children’s Confidence to Start School

Is your preschool service offering a 4-year-old kinder program in Banyule, Boroondara, Frankston, Kingston, Knox, Maroondah, Whitehorse or Wyndham? If it does, then the Cool Little Kids research team invite you to take part in the Cool Little Kids study. Cool Little Kids is a parenting program which aims to help build shy preschool children’s confidence to start school. The program is currently being tested by researchers at the Royal Children’s Hospital.

If your preschool is in one of the eight local government areas and you have not yet heard from Cool Little Kids, please email the researchers at CoolLittleKids.Study@rch.org.au. Further information can be found here.

Milly Sydney Martindale Conference Award

Dr Sue Atkinson has developed six $200 awards called the Milly Sydney Martindale Conference Awards in honour of her late Godmother. The awards are specifically designed to support students studying early childhood who are experiencing financial hardship to be able to attend the Equity and Childhood Program's Honoring the Child, Honoring Equity Conference. The Awards will cover the cost of a Student Full Conference Registration. To download an application form click here.
